Initial Visual Inspection
Expired tape often exhibits yellowing and brittleness of the adhesive surface, edge curling, adhesive bleeding (sticking to the release liner), and visible signs of powdering or flaking.

 

Performance Testing
When pulled, expired tape shows a significant loss of toughness and snaps under slight force; during adhesion tests, the adhesive layer demonstrates severely reduced tack, causing it to detach quickly, sometimes leaving behind large areas of adhesive residue.

 

Professional Verification
Conduct a thermal shock test at the tape's glass transition temperature (Tg) in accordance with industry-standard patented methods; if detachment or breakage occurs under the specified conditions, the tape has reached the end of its service life and is considered expired or ineffective.
