Verification of Key Performance Indicators
Alkali Resistance (Critical Indicator): High-quality products contain 14.5%–16.7% zirconium dioxide and retain ≥80% of their tensile strength after alkali exposure. In contrast, inferior products are made from waste glass or drawn using clay crucibles and lack an effective alkali-resistant coating; they crumble into powder when rubbed gently after soaking in an alkaline solution and lose their strength within two months.
Tensile Strength: Compliant products have warp and weft tensile strengths of no less than 1250 N/50 mm and 1050 N/50 mm, respectively, and do not break upon repeated bending. Inferior products snap after being bent just twice, and their mesh intersections shift easily.
Weight per Unit Area: Using a standard template, cut and weigh a 100 cm² sample; the deviation between the measured weight and the nominal value must be within ±5%. Inferior products often suffer from overstated weights and material cutting (skimping on materials).

 

Visual and Tactile Assessment
High-quality products feature a flat surface and uniform mesh openings, free from missing strands, damage, or oil stains; they feel stiff yet smooth to the touch and do not easily prick the skin during installation. Inferior products exhibit rough workmanship, skewed mesh patterns, and excessive burrs or loose fibers along the edges, making them prone to pricking the hands.
Check the roll labeling: legitimate products clearly display specifications, applicable standards (e.g., JC/T 841-2024), and manufacturer details, whereas inferior products often come in unmarked white packaging and frequently fall short of the stated length.
