Product Description
ETICS Fiberglass Mesh is a reinforcing fabric developed specifically for External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems. We manufacture the mesh from woven fiberglass yarn and apply an alkali-resistant polymer coating to ensure stable performance inside cement-based base coats.
In ETICS construction, the insulation board itself provides thermal performance, but the durability of the entire facade often depends on the reinforcing layer hidden beneath the finish. From our experience, many surface defects that appear years after installation can be traced back to insufficient reinforcement or uneven stress distribution within the render layer.
For this reason, fiberglass mesh has become a standard component in modern insulation systems. Once integrated into the base coat, it helps stabilize the facade, improves impact resistance, and reduces the likelihood of cracking caused by everyday environmental and structural influences.
Working Principle
Exterior insulation systems face constant movement throughout their service life. Temperature fluctuations cause expansion and contraction. Buildings settle over time. Cement-based materials also undergo shrinkage during curing.
These movements generate tensile stress inside the render layer. Without reinforcement, stress tends to accumulate around weak points such as joints, corners, window openings, and transitions between different substrates.
When installers embed ETICS Fiberglass Mesh into fresh base coat mortar, the mesh creates a continuous reinforcing network across the facade. The grid structure spreads stress throughout a larger area rather than allowing it to concentrate locally. As a result, the render layer remains more stable and less susceptible to cracking.
Another factor often overlooked is the alkaline nature of cement mortar. Over extended periods, alkaline exposure can gradually damage unprotected glass fibers.
