Basic Appearance and Specification Check
High-quality products feature a clean surface free of impurities, with evenly spaced, straight fiberglass strands, good toughness, and uniform mesh openings; in contrast, inferior products have skewed grids and are prone to brittle breakage. Parameters such as weight per unit area and thickness must also be verified: construction-grade products (meeting national standards) require a weight of ≥130g/m², while industrial-grade products must meet thickness requirements specific to their application.
Core Performance Testing
Alkali and Corrosion Resistance: High-quality products withstand erosion from cement, acids, and alkalis, whereas inferior products suffer rapid strength loss upon contact with alkalis, failing to provide effective crack prevention.
Mechanical Properties: Tensile testing confirms whether products meet standards; construction-grade alkali-resistant tape requires a tensile breaking strength of at least 750N/50mm, while industrial-grade tape requires a tensile strength exceeding 15MPa to withstand stresses caused by thermal expansion and contraction in piping.
Temperature Resistance and Adhesion: After high-temperature baking tests, qualified products show no delamination or shedding, and the adhesive backing remains intact without significant aging or loss of tack; long-term temperature resistance must meet the baseline range of -40°C to 120°C.
Compliance Verification
Legitimate products should hold RoHS environmental certification and ISO9001 quality management system certification; industrial insulation-grade tapes must meet a withstand voltage rating of 2.5–3kV. Avoid purchasing low-priced, inferior products from uncertified manufacturers.
