Alkali Resistant Fiberglass Tape is manufactured from woven fiberglass mesh with an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive. The fiberglass is protected by an alkali-resistant coating, allowing the reinforcement to be incorporated into gypsum- and cement-based finishing materials.

The tape is intended for drywall joints, repaired cracks and other localized areas where additional tensile reinforcement is required. After embedding, the mesh remains inside the finishing layer and becomes part of the reinforced section rather than the finished surface.

The adhesive fixes the mesh during installation only. Mechanical performance is achieved after the repair material cures around the fiberglass.

Because the mesh has an open construction, plaster or joint compound penetrates through the reinforcement instead of remaining on the surface. The finished layer behaves as a single composite rather than separate materials.

• Standard rolls can generally be applied without additional fixing materials and are easily cut or torn to length during installation.
