EIFS Joint Tape is a self-adhesive woven fiberglass mesh developed for reinforcing joints in Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) and ETICS assemblies. The tape bridges insulation board joints before the reinforcing base coat is applied, helping create a continuous reinforcement layer across panel connections.

The reinforcing mesh is woven from continuous fiberglass yarn and finished with an alkali-resistant acrylic coating. A pressure-sensitive adhesive holds the tape securely in place during installation, allowing the reinforcing mortar to be applied without additional fixing.

The product is compatible with cement-based mortars, polymer-modified base coats and acrylic rendering systems commonly used in exterior insulation construction.

Construction

The tape combines a woven fiberglass mesh with an alkali-resistant coating and a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing.

 

After installation, the open mesh construction allows the base coat to penetrate completely through the fabric. Once cured, the mortar encapsulates the mesh and forms a reinforced composite layer across the joint.

 

From our experience, reinforcement at insulation board joints is particularly important because these locations are more likely to experience movement caused by temperature changes, drying shrinkage and normal building deformation. A continuous reinforcement layer helps distribute these stresses more evenly across the render.

The woven fiberglass construction provides dimensional stability while remaining flexible enough for straight joints, corner details and irregular substrate transitions.

Uniform mesh openings promote consistent mortar penetration and reliable bonding throughout the reinforced area. Stable mesh geometry also contributes to uniform reinforcement across the finished surface.

Another factor often overlooked is adhesive performance during installation. The pressure-sensitive adhesive is intended to position the tape rather than provide structural bonding. This allows installers to align the tape accurately before embedding it in the base coat.

The alkali-resistant acrylic coating protects the fiberglass from prolonged contact with cementitious materials and helps preserve the mechanical properties of the reinforcement throughout its service life.

EIFS Joint Tape is used wherever localized reinforcement is required within exterior insulation systems. Typical applications include insulation board joints, base coat reinforcement, cement board seams, foam insulation panel connections, window and door corners, façade renovation and repair work.

The tape is also suitable for reinforcing areas where differential movement is expected, including transition zones between different substrates and locations susceptible to shrinkage cracking.

Selection of tape width, mesh opening and fabric weight depends on the insulation system, render thickness and the mechanical requirements of the project.

We produce the reinforcing mesh from continuous fiberglass yarn under controlled weaving conditions to maintain consistent mesh geometry and tensile properties.

Following weaving, the fabric receives an alkali-resistant acrylic coating before the pressure-sensitive adhesive is applied under controlled processing conditions. In practice, stable coating distribution is just as important as yarn quality because it influences handling characteristics during installation.

Each production batch is routinely checked for mesh opening, dimensional stability, coating distribution and tensile performance before packaging.
