Fiberglass Surface Tissue is a lightweight nonwoven veil manufactured from randomly distributed E-glass fibers and a controlled amount of organic binder. It is intended for use as the outer surface layer of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) laminates, where it improves surface uniformity and provides a resin-rich finish.

Unlike woven reinforcement fabrics, surface tissue contributes primarily to the quality of the laminate surface. After resin impregnation and curing, it becomes an integral part of the composite structure, helping reduce exposed fiber patterns and producing a smoother finished component.

The material is compatible with polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resin systems and can be processed using conventional composite manufacturing methods.

Two standard grades are available according to the manufacturing process of the finished composite.

• S-SM Series：Developed for filament winding applications including FRP pipes, pressure vessels, storage tanks and process equipment. The open fiber structure allows rapid resin penetration during continuous production.

• S-HM Series：Designed for hand lay-up moulding. The veil follows curved and irregular mould surfaces easily, making it suitable for cooling towers, marine components, sanitary products and architectural composite panels.

The tissue consists of uniformly dispersed E-glass fibers arranged in a random orientation. A low binder content provides sufficient handling strength while maintaining good permeability during resin impregnation.

During lamination, resin penetrates the fiber network quickly and forms a continuous surface layer after curing. The veil becomes integrated with the laminate without creating a distinct interface between layers.

Its porous structure also assists air release during wet lay-up, helping produce a laminate with a more uniform surface and fewer visible defects.

The fine fiber distribution provides an even substrate for gel coats, protective coatings and corrosion-resistant lining systems.

Low binder content promotes rapid wet-out and stable resin flow, supporting efficient processing in both filament winding and hand lay-up production.

As an inorganic reinforcement material, fiberglass surface tissue offers good resistance to moisture, many chemical media and normal weather exposure. It maintains dimensional stability throughout the service life of the composite and contributes to consistent surface quality without significantly increasing laminate weight or thickness.

The material also helps reduce fiber print-through on finished FRP products, particularly where high surface appearance or coating performance is required.
