Material Description
Alkali Resistant Mesh Yarn is a continuous fiberglass yarn developed for weaving alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh used in cement reinforcement systems. It is manufactured from high-quality E-glass filaments and treated with a specially formulated sizing system that provides good compatibility with alkali-resistant polymer coatings.
The yarn is intended for the production of reinforcing fabrics used in EIFS, ETICS, cement rendering and plaster reinforcement. From our experience, the stability of the finished mesh begins with the consistency of the yarn itself. Uniform filament distribution, stable tex and controlled winding all contribute to smoother weaving and more consistent mesh quality.
Material Performance
During mesh production, the alkali resistant mesh yarn is woven into an open-grid fabric and subsequently coated with an alkali-resistant acrylic polymer. The fiberglass filaments provide the tensile reinforcement required by the mesh, while the coating system protects the fibers from long-term exposure to highly alkaline cementitious materials.
Chemical durability is one of the most important characteristics of this yarn. The surface treatment helps preserve the mechanical properties of the glass filaments after prolonged contact with cement, mortar, gypsum and concrete.
Another factor often overlooked is coating compatibility. A suitable sizing system allows the acrylic coating to wet the yarn evenly and bond firmly to the filament surface. This improves coating uniformity and minimizes yarn movement within the finished mesh during production and installation.
Low elongation under processing tension also plays an important role. In practice, stable yarn geometry makes it easier to maintain accurate mesh openings, reduces fabric distortion and supports consistent roll quality throughout large production runs.

Typical applications include standard and heavy-duty EIFS reinforcement mesh, ETICS reinforcing fabrics, exterior wall reinforcement mesh, cement and plaster reinforcement, waterproofing membrane scrims and crack-control mesh for concrete repair systems.
The same yarn is also suitable for producing industrial reinforcement fabrics, composite building materials and other woven fiberglass products where dimensional stability and long-term durability are required.
