E-Glass Fiberglass Yarn is manufactured from continuous glass filaments based on an alumino-borosilicate composition with low alkali content. The material was originally developed for electrical insulation applications, which is reflected in the designation "E-Glass". Today it is widely processed into woven fabrics, reinforcement meshes, composite laminates, insulation products, and industrial textiles.

The yarn is supplied in different constructions according to the intended manufacturing process. Linear density, filament diameter, twist construction, and sizing formulation are selected to match weaving, winding, knitting, or composite production requirements rather than a single standard specification.

Material Composition

The E-Glass fiberglass yarn consists of continuous E-glass filaments drawn under controlled melting and fiberizing conditions. Individual filaments are gathered into strands and wound into packages with consistent density and package geometry.

 

During production, a sizing is applied to the filament surface. Besides protecting the filaments during handling and weaving, the sizing also influences compatibility with resin systems used in downstream processing. Different resin technologies generally require different sizing formulations, so the final yarn specification is determined together with the intended application.

Continuous filament construction provides stable tensile performance along the fiber direction while maintaining flexibility for textile processing.

Uniform package build supports consistent unwinding during weaving and winding operations. Stable filament distribution also contributes to regular fabric construction and reduces variation during subsequent coating or lamination processes.

Depending on the finished product, the yarn may be processed into woven fabrics, knitted structures, chopped products, composite reinforcements, or industrial textiles.

E-Glass Fiberglass Yarn is used as the raw material for fiberglass mesh fabrics, woven rovings, electrical insulation fabrics, composite reinforcement textiles, filtration media, and industrial fabrics.

Construction remains one of the principal application areas, particularly for alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh used in ETICS and EIFS systems, cement reinforcement, waterproofing membranes, and drywall accessories.

Outside the construction industry, manufacturers process the same material into reinforcement products for railway components, automotive parts, electrical insulation, wind energy, marine structures, filtration systems, and engineered composites.
